DISMANTLING GENDER STEREOTYPES AND GENDER IMBALANCE IN SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING

It’s no secret that women are dismally underrepresented in the tech industry, they experience different types of roadblocks and biases when studying computing and pursuing a career in tech due to their sexuality, socioeconomic status, and other elements of their identities and backgrounds. Our mentoring program “Go:Girls” can play a crucial role in giving women the support and confidence they need to thrive in the tech sector.

As technology continues to impact every aspect of our daily lives, women and girls must be able to access the learning and skills needed to programme computers and technology. This is what our “Go:Girls” program is about - To help more young women prepare for careers in the tech industry.

Our “Go:Girls” program is for young women in their early higher education, because we want to build a cohort from which tech organisations can ultimately recruit, thereby influencing the pipeline in the short term. There is no question that we can help create a brighter future for women and girls in computing.

when women become more involved in the technology sector, everybody benefits.
